Aux Sable Donates $100,000 to the Arroyo Trails Discovery Woodlands Park
Posted: October 14, 2014
On September 27, hundreds of families, community and local business leaders gathered from across
the area to celebrate Discovery Days at Arroyo Trails in Channahon, Illinois. The day was all about connecting the local community to over 70 acres of natural woodlands located in the Channahon Parks District.
The open space is being developed into an accessible activity area called the Arroyo Trails. A Discovery Woodlands. The natural elements of the park will be supplemented throught the addition of an amphitheater, pavilion, splash pad, interpretive signing and mulch boardwalk. There will also be natural-based structures, such as piles of logs for climbing and a stream for skipping stones and jumping over.
The project, which is being led by the People for Channahon Parks Foundation will be developed in stages over the next six years as donations come in.
Tim Stauft, CEO & President of Aux Sable (pictured here with members of the Foundation's Board), was on hand at the free community event to make a Major Donor cheque presentation in support of the park. “Aux Sable is pleased to be part of a program that protects this local area and seeks to reconnect children and their families with nature,” he said. "Aux Sable has a proud history of supporting community initiatives in the areas that we live and work, and we think this park will be a wonderful contribution to the local community."
