Rail Safety

Safety is our highest priority at Aux Sable.  We are committed to safe and reliable energy transportation, and our rail loading operations are expected to meet or exceed those same high standards.  Aux Sable’s rail operations play a major role in the economical transportation of high-quality energy products to markets in the U.S. and Canada.  Aux Sable maintains a fleet of approximately 300 leased rail cars and safely loads an average of over 6000 per year.

Since operations began in 2000, Aux Sable has been recognized with prestigious rail safety awards from a number of major rail companies that transport natural gas liquids to and from Aux Sable’s Channahon facility.

Aux Sable has been a recipient of CSX Transportation’s (CSXT) “Chemical Safety Excellence Award” since rail loading operations began at its Channahon facility in December 2000.  The award reflects commitment to rail car maintenance and safety as well as continuous safe tank car loading.  To be eligible, companies must ship 600 or more rail cars per year on CSXT and have no major incidents during that time.

Aux Sable has also been repeatedly recognized by Canadian National Railway (CN) for chemical transportation.  CN recognizes companies that have successful prevention and emergency response plans as well as a rate of zero non-accident releases for shipments of regulated hazardous materials.
